I am not a catholic or attend you church, but have gone to your carnival you have every year. When I heard about the fire, I was astonished and upset that someone could do something like this. I know God will rebuild his church and people.

We were parishioners for 20 yrs. from 1980 to 2000 and will always consider SJV as our home parish. We baptized, married, and buried family from SJV and so have both sad and happy memories of this beautiful church. We have made a donation in memory of our daughters, Cheryl and Deborah, to help SJV rise from the ashes.

I was so saddened to hear about this tragedy, I pray that you are able to get rebuilt soon and that forgiveness is in your hearts should this have been a deliberate action. Thoughts and prayers.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish community in Pasadena, CA is saddened by the loss of your beautiful church. May the strength of your parishioners and faithfuls throughout the southland unite together and bring about the rebuild of your church a reality. You are in our prayers. Yes, you will Rise Again!

My mom, Terry Shelby, was the rectory cook for a number of years (when Monsignor O'Callaghan was pastor), so St. John Vianney parish is close to the hearts of my family members. My mom was very upset when I told her that someone had burned down your beautiful church building. We pray for the St. John Vianney community here at the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi in San Francisco.

I grew up at St. John Vianney. I was confirmed at the church and my husband and I were married there over 25 years ago. My heart hurts to know that someone did this deliberately, but the love of God in the church is in the people, not in the building. My prayers are with everyone who still attends the church.
